- Vice President-elect Maria Leonora “Leni” Robredo is set to have her oath-taking on June 30 at the Quezon City Reception House
- The event will be a simple one since the camp of Robredo will prepare only selected Filipino and Chinese dishes
- Celebrity Kris Aquino ensured her attendance
Kris Aquino, sister of outgoing President Benigno Aquino III, will represent the Aquino family for the historical oath-taking of incoming Vice President Leni Robredo on June 30, who ran under the Liberal Party.
On Monday, the camp of Robredo announced that they had sent invites to the Aquino sisters, but they cannot promise joining her because they have to prioritize the turnover rites of their brother which will also be held on the same day.
“[The] Aquino sisters were invited and Kris Aquino [will] represent the family,” Robredo’s spokesperson Georgina Hernandez said in the statement given to the media.
The TV host confirmed her attendance to Inquirer and added that she is to wear simple Filipiniana clothing. Kris was the highest election contributor of the Camarines Sur Representative, donating 31.8 million pesos.
The other Aquino sisters, Viel Aquino-Dee, Ballsy Aquino-Cruz, and Pinky Aquino-Abelleda, also supported and campaigned for the incoming VP who won against neck-and-neck rival Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos.
The inauguration of Robredo is eyed to be just short and simple. It will be held at the new office of the Vice President in New Manila at 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. She is then scheduled to join a thanksgiving party with her supporters in the afternoon.
President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has earlier turned down the request of Robredo to have a joint inauguration with her, pointing his friendship with Bongbong as the main reason of his rejection.
