As of press time, one soldier was injured in a crossfire between communist rebel group New People’s Army (NPA) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the province of Occidental Mindoro.
The initial report received from 204 Brigade Commande Col Gabin Edhawan states that military personnel from the 76 Infantry Battalion were conducting combat patrol operation in the town of Paluan when the latter encountered the rebel group.
In the initial crossfire, a soldier was injured but was immediately brought to safety. The AFP did not disclose the identity of the hurt soldier.
The crossfire started at 7:15 AM and it is still ongoing as of this writing.
