Eat Bulaga! host Alden Richards, together with other local artists, performed in the benefit concert “Reborn,” top-billed by the worship band 1Walker.
Asia Songbird and “Poor Senorita” star Regine Velasquez also performed in the concert held at the Mall of Asia Arena together with her husband, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, and good friend, Queen of Soul Jaya.
The concert was staged for the benefit of the poor and the abandoned elderly being housed in Anawim Lay Missions Foundation inc., founded by Catholic lay preacher, Bro. Bo Sanchez.
In his Instagram posts, he thanked Alden for lending his time for this good cause. “Thanks Alden for being part of the worship concert last night for the benefit of Anawim, our ministry for the poor. Your big heart reflects God’s big heart for us. God reward you!” he said.
Bro. Bo also thanked the other artists: “Thank you Jaya for last night’s amazing worship concert for the benefit of Anawim, our ministry for the poor. Your big heart reflects God’s big heart for us. God reward you!”
He also posted: “Thanks Ogie and Regine for a glorious worship concert last night. Thanks to the entire 1Walker team. The Lolos and Lolas of Anawim will always be grateful for your love! Thank you for being Jesus to us.”
According to a press release for the concert, it was Regine who broached the idea of putting together a band dedicated to playing praise and worship music after realizing that her friends "love music, as they love God." Eventually more singers and musicians hopped on with the same mission, thus giving birth to 1Walker, a name taken from the address where their journey began.
A collaboration with 1Walker for a benefit concert for Anawim was conceived by the attendees of "Power Mornings," a group of persons of influence who collaborate and commit themselves to be agents in their respective organizations.
Anawim, which is located in the province of Rizal, first opened its doors in 1996 to rejected and abandoned elderly roaming the streets. According to its website, Anawim’s purpose is to provide a home, a sanctuary, to those poor and abandoned elderly who have nowhere else to go.
