As the Ateneo Lady Eagles (10-2) and La Salle Lady Spikers (10-2) are assured of tickets to the next of phase of UAAP Season 78 Women’s Volleyball, three other teams are fighting tooth-and-nail to grab the other two slots for the final four race. The FEU Lady Tamaraws, UP Lady Maroons, and NU Lady Bulldogs are all gunning for the last two slots.
With only three playdates left and one game each for FEU, UP, and NU, games will be crucial. It will be win-or-go home for these teams. FEU will play the Adamson Lady Falcons on Wednesday, while UP and NU who are sporting an identical 7-6 win-loss record will play the UST Golden Tigresses and La Salle Lady Spikers respectively on weekends.
Sporting an 8-5 record after their huge victory against UP last Sunday, April 3, the Lady Tamaraws sit on third spot. However, they are still not out of the woods. A loss to Adamson on Wednesday would be devastating. Meanwhile, a win by UP would mean a tie at third spot. This will force NU in a must-win situation against La Salle. Should NU win, things would get more interesting as all three teams would be tied at 8-6. To avoid complications, the girls from Morayta only need to win against Adamson, the squad that beat them in the first round.
New crowd darlings UP Lady Maroons and the rejuvenated NU Lady Bulldogs are expected to go all-out in their last games to wrap up the eliminations and force at least a playoff for the fourth spot, should FEU win.
