She implored on the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) to hurry its investigation so that the reason behind the outage could be identified and repaired.
According to airport authorities, the glitch was from a MERALCO substation at around 8:45 PM, but MERALCO said that the glitch was fixed and restored in "less than a minute" and said that the five-hour delay before power could be switched back on was on the "customer's loadside", referring to NAIA itself.
Afterwards, DOTC secretary Jun Abaya confirmed that one of the 10 generator sets in the airport failed, causing the outage. President Aquino immediately ordered Abaya to create contingency measures to ensure such incident doesn't happen again.
The effect of the outage cancelled or delayed nearly 100 flights. The outage lasted before dawn on Sunday.
