The breakthrough in the case came when a tricycle driver, shaken by what he saw on social media, approached the Basud Municipal Police Station. He claimed that he was the one hired by a male suspect to transport the heavy box to the dumping site. This testimony allowed investigators to work backward and reconstruct the suspect's chilling itinerary.

According to the police, the suspect began his journey at the Turbina Terminal in Calamba, Laguna. He reportedly boarded a passenger bus bound for Daet. Terminal staff and bus crew had no idea they were transporting a corpse because the suspect was calm and convincing. When asked about the large luggage, the suspect allegedly told them it was just groceries and other household items. He even went as far as to ask if the footrest area was loose enough to accommodate his heavy cargo.

Once the bus reached Daet, the suspect moved quickly. He hired a tricycle to take him to the nearby town of Basud—a mere seven kilometers away—where he finally disposed of the box in the river. The tricycle driver left the scene immediately after the drop-off, unaware of the gruesome contents he had just helped deliver.

The victim is described as being between 5’3” and 5’4” tall, estimated to be 35 to 40 years old. She has a tattoo on her left chest and another on her right shoulder. While her name is still unknown, the Basud Police and the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit are certain that both the victim and the suspect originated from Region IV-A.

Authorities are now making a public appeal to anyone who might have a missing relative fitting this description. They are also working with their counterparts in Calabarzon to track down the man seen transporting the box. This case highlights the terrifying reality of how criminals use public transportation to move between provinces, hoping to hide their tracks in distant locations.

The peaceful atmosphere of Barangay Pinagwarasan was shattered on a Friday when residents first spotted the suspicious container near the bridge. The discovery sent shockwaves through the small community, leading to an immediate police response to secure the area. Local officials have since increased patrols as the investigation into the woman's identity continues.

While this case involves a mysterious suspect, other family tragedies in the country have seen perpetrators much closer to home. In a separate heartbreaking incident, a 72-year-old grandfather lost his life after being attacked by his own brother following a heated dispute. These incidents of extreme violence have prompted local leaders to call for better community monitoring and mental health support.
