“We do not doubt the dedication and commitment of our troops. In addition, commanders on the ground are in full control of our troops and are focused on their primary mission of getting these criminals and saving the hostages,” Communications Secretary Hermino “Sonny” Coloma Jr.
Coloma revealed that such allegations are baseless. Efforts from both the AFP and police have been underway. IN fact, Coloma claimed that “all kidnap-for-ransom groups and the Abu Sayyaf Group for a long time.”
The AFP, furthermore, has come up with a system that protects its ranks from spies and traitors. “There also exist strong measures to deal with those who have found to have violated their oath,” Coloma said.
Jolo mayor Hussin Amin said on Friday that members of the AFP have been conspiring with the bandit group, claiming that these members have been receiving a part of the ransom that has been collected from the hostages and kidnap victims. The mayor further stated that the government of the country should do the necessary steps and investigate military men who are allegedly involved in such act.
It can be recalled that two hostages have already been beheaded by the bandit group, the latest being on June 13, Monday. The first one was beheaded on April. Both hostages have been beheaded due to the failure of delivering the demanded ransom. The demanded ransom by the bandit group is set at P600 million. This money is already for the 3 foreign hostages, including the two who have already been beheaded.
As of present, there are two hostages still in the hands of Abu Sayyaf. These are Marites Flor, believed to be Hall’s girlfriend, and Norwegian resort manager Kjartan Sekkingstad. All four were kidnapped in September 2015 at a private resort in Samal Island.
