According to her, doctors were able to harvest only four eggs. Of those, just two were viable—one boy and one girl. The girl, whom she and her husband, Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, named Ameera, sadly did not survive. That left only the boy, Francis, as the final viable embryo to use for surrogacy.

“Then my husband surprised me, because I wasn’t ready to give up on my very last egg. He gave the call to go ahead with the surrogate for my baby boy, Francisko,” she recounted.
