– Mar Roxas lost the presidential seat to Davao City Mayor Duterte
– The last time we have heard of him was during his birthday camping in Baguio with his family and friends
– Now, Roxas expresses his desire to be a travel blogger, a path totally different from his political race, on his recent blog posts on Facebook
Traveling has become more therapeutic than writing for the brokenhearted. It gives you fresh and happier memories to keep. This may be the reason why defeated Liberal Party presidential candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas III is seen journeying various places in the country, after his rival Rodrigo Duterte won by a landslide in the presidential race during the May 9 National Elections.
It seems that Mar Roxas, defeated and disconsolate, found a way to shift his current disposition to sweeter ones.
“You have spent countless hours during the campaign helping me. It’s my turn to spend time thanking you,” writes Roxas in his post during the first day of his “Thank You Tour” in Oriental Mindoro.
Why am I doing this? Well, first of all, gusto ko talaga magpasalamat sa lahat ng nagtiwala sa akin. Secondly, I’m exploring options as a travel blogger, haha. Nung kampanya, siksik at mabilisan ang schedule namin. Ngayon nae-enjoy ko na ang mga tanawin,” he wrote on the second day.
(Why am I doing this? Well, first of all, I really want to express my gratitude to all those who trusted and believed in me. Secondly, I’m exploring options as a travel blogger. During the campaign, our schedule was tight and hectic. Now, I can enjoy the views.)
He noted that he can now drink beer with Gov. Alfonso Umali, a friend and treasurer of the LP, which he cannot also do during the campaign.
Roxas also took a “mandatory sunset” photo by the beach as they wait for their roro (roll-on, roll-off ship) to bring them to Caticlan.
His posts show more of his true soul, jolly, corny, and happy, putting away his serious and intimidating aura during the campaign.
He put this caption “‘Yung tagline niya na paulit-ulit sa loudspeaker ay, ‘Ferry fast, ferry safe, and a ferry convenient trip’,” as if trying to evoke laughter from his readers.
Roxas also wrote “When we disembarked, may narinig akong isang bata na nagsabi. ‘Kamukha ni Mar Roxas ‘yun ah’.”

Ending his fourth day is a heart-striking statement.
“The response has been overwhelming. Thank you so much. Nakakataba ng puso. Let’s not forget though that this is for you. I’m doing this trip, taking these photos, shaking your hands, hearing your stories, goofing around so that I can show you how grateful I am for your support. Subaybayan niyo po ang aking pagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat.”
These are aspects of Mar Roxas the public has yet to discover. Albeit the defeat, he has surely won the hearts of some Filipinos as he showcase his true personality. Keep them coming, Sir!
