– The alleged accomplice of a colorum driver accused of raping two females denied that he has nothing to do with the rape
– With his consent, the suspect volunteered to help the police solve the case
– He was shot dead in an attempt to escape the authorities
The accomplice of a colorum van driver who is charged of robbing and raping two female passengers while high on drugs was shot Friday morning trying to escape from the arresting police authorities.
The accomplice, Alfie “Buddy” Turado, was first seen after the incident by the officials of Barangay Obrero in Quezon City. The barangay officials reported him to the police. Before Buddy was arrested, the residents surrounded him.
According to the authorities, Buddy was brought to the police station. He disclosed the fact that he was indeed with Wilfredo Lorenzo, the driver of the van, when the incident happened on June 10. He, however, claimed that he has nothing to do with the rape as he was just driving the van. This allegation is contrary to the claim of the 22-year-old victim.
The suspect added that it was the driver who masterminded the commission of the crime.
Below is a video of Turado before he was shot in an alleged gunfight:
The suspect consented to inform the police where they kept their spoils. On their way to the place along Tandang Sora in Q.C., Turado reportedly attempted to seize a gun from one of the policemen inside the car. He was shot and brought immediately to East Avenue Medical Center where he was declared dead.
An initial investigation of the police showed that the accomplice, who shaved his head to veer away public suspicion before being arrested, sustained wounds from the gun shot in his neck and chest.
Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said that the informers enlightened them of the fact that the suspect has been joining pot sessions in Barangay Obrero.
Marcelo added that the police deems the case closed, with a warning that criminals like them do not deserve a place in Quezon City.
