Boaters get a once-in-a-lifetime experience with not one but two gray whales

When we get to travel by water, we always silently wish we could see the majestic animals living in the ocean.

It would be such a memorable and thrilling experience to sight just one! But it would be an entirely different story if you not only saw a creature such as a whale, but also got to pet it (which seems entirely impossible). Yet, the boaters in the video below were lucky enough to experience it with not only one, but two whales!

The extra-ordinary encounter took place in Mexico's San Ignacio Lagoon in 2012. A lot of tourists were there boating when they saw a gray whale approach one of the boats. Since it's not often you get to experience this kind of encounter, the tourists reached over to try and touch the whale. To their amazement, the mother lifted her baby from the water so people could pet him. Not only did they get a closer look, they also realized that they were touching two whales - the mom and her calf! Wow!

This video was uploaded by One World One Ocean. According to them, “The gray whales in San Ignacio Lagoon frequently approach small tourist boats, seeking the human interaction. While they could easily avoid the people, whose small boats are not allowed to closely approach whales, they actually seem to enjoy making contact.”

Who wouldn't want to experience this thrilling interaction, right?

That was a wonderful encounter! Share this video with your family and friends!
