A 60-year-old motorcycle rider tragically lost his life after he was crushed under a 10-wheeler truck that suddenly moved forward along Payatas Road, Quezon City, on Monday night, June 23.

According to James Agustin’s report on Un ang Balita, the accident occurred around 9 p.m.
The victim was on his way home to Payatas after work in Quezon Avenue when the incident happened.
“Pagdating po namin doon sa area, 'yung victim po natin nasa ilalim mismo ng bumper nu’ng truck, kasama niya 'yung motor na nakaipit doon mismo,” said Randy De Vera, Deputy Team Leader of Barangay Commonwealth Base 1.

“Mga siguro 30 minutes to 45 minutes po bago po nahatak 'yung victim natin,” he added, noting that rescuers used hydraulic tools to lift the truck and retrieve the victim.
Though rushed to the hospital, the rider was declared dead on arrival.
“Noong tumawag po sa akin 'yung pamangkin ko, tumulo agad ang luha ko. Napakabait ng kapatid ko na ito eh. Pero anong magagawa ko? Aksidente eh,” the victim’s sibling said tearfully.
Police investigations revealed the truck was parked in a compound across a gas station.
Witnesses said it suddenly surged forward while its battery was being charged and exited the gate uncontrolled, striking the rider.
“Wala pong driver doon sa loob ng truck,” confirmed PCpt. Joe Salvadico of QCPD Traffic Sector 5.
Authorities are now searching for the truck driver, who fled the scene.
He may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in h0micide and damage to property.
“Dapat magpakita rin siya para mapanagutan niya kung ano man ang naging problema,” the victim’s sibling said.

Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
