5 “hugot lessons” you can learn from archery

What do you get when you mix today's trendiest sport and pastime? You get an archery-inspired "hugot lesson"!

Here are the top five "hugot lessons" you should know about the sport:

(At first, you are excited because you have not experienced it, but as time goes by, it gets harder because the bow is surprisingly heavy. It is just like having a romantic relationship. At first, you get butterflies in your stomach and it seems like you cannot get enough of the person. However, as time goes by and you know the person already, it gets harder. The excitement and the butterflies are gone.)

2. Historically, archery is both used for hunting and warfare.

As a sport, it helps in developing one’s mental and physical fitness.

It can also strengthen cardiovascular health and tone arm and leg muscles.

It also uplifts your mood.

Sadly, most people in the present age take this activity for granted because they do not know about this.

Yung archery pala minsan parang tayo, natatake for granted.

(Archery is sometimes like us - taken for granted. They do not know what we can offer. They do not know our history. We are being ignored.)

3. Sabi nung archery coach, focus on the target. Close your left eye to ensure accurate results.

(The archery coach taught us to focus on the target. Close your left eye to ensure accurate results. If you look elsewhere, you will be confused till you catch yourself getting confused on which target you want to hit. Just like in love, you should stick to one. Do not look into somebody else’s target because you have your own!)

4. Minsan para tayong arrow na ‘to pag nagmamahal. Hindi na kaya pero kumakapit pa rin!

(Sometimes, we are like this arrow when we love. Although we cannot go on with it anymore, we still hold on.)

(According to the coach, if you have already adjusted your position towards the target, let the arrow go right away. If you hold on to it longer, there will be least chances of success. It is just like in love. If you need to let go of it, do it. If you hold on to it longer, you will suffer.)
