Filipino netizens react to Facebook’s inverted Philippine flag error

Today marks the Philippines’ 118th year of independence, and social media giant Facebook did not miss out on sending its Filipino users a special greeting.

Despite Facebook’s good intentions, their salutation was met with criticism from Filipino netizens as it featured an inverted version of the country’s flag.

It has been taught that if the color blue is on the superior field of the flag, it means that the country is in peacetime. However, if it is the color red that is on the superior field, it means that country is in a state of war.

Some social media users expressed their disappointment, while others seemed to make light of the situation. Here are some of the best, if not worst, reactions:

1. Heneral Luna disapproves

2. A short lesson brought to you by...

3. Para sa media

4. Ansabe ni Mars

5. In summary

6. Seriously guys.

7. I say it as I see it

8. Kebs lang

9. #relevant

10. Concerned si atey
