‘So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation’ aspirant Chi Tahani just could not contain herself.
The 12-year-old contestant auditioned for the show with a routine of Beyonce’s ‘Countdown’, impressing all of the judges: producer Nigel Lythgoe, television personality Paula Abdul and singer Jason Derulo. She was unanimously voted through the next round, which got her falling on the floor with much excitement.
When Tahani gave congratulatory hugs to each judge, she did not even reach Derulo as she vomited all over Paula Abdul.
‘I’ve never had anybody just vomit on me like that,” the singer/dancer jokingly commented.
The young girl seemed unfazed by the incident but immediately apologized to Abdul, and came out of the stage running cheerfully.
In a post-audition interview, she explained to host Cat Deeley that she got a little bit overwhelmed with her advancement to the next round. When Deeley asked her what happened on stage, she recalled the events like it was a funny memory.
“I hugged Nigel, and I hugged Paula. And she just squeezed me too tight. And all the happiness came out of her jacket.”
‘So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation’ is the 13th and latest season of the dance competition show, which aired on May 30, Monday. Compared to the show’s previous seasons, children between the ages of 8 and 13 will be competing to get into the Dance Academy. Out of 100 dancers that will be chosen for the Academy, only 10 will be paired with and mentored by an ‘All-Star’ alumni.
Thirteen-year-old Sia collaborator and dancer Maddie Ziegler will join the main judges after the audition round.
