Everyone feels awful when they see photos of suffering animals, but often we don't even realize we can do something to help them. Even if we know the animal is somewhere nearby, how many of us will set out to rescue it?
Dean and Samantha from Pennsylvania have done so on more than one occasion. This particular occasion that happened back in 2014, however, must have been the most memorable. The couple runs a dog rescue, so helping animals in need was not a new thing for them, but this time it was something completely different. This time, it wasn't a dog.
One day the couple came across photos of a bear wandering around a bucket stuck on his head. People said it had been going on for months, and no one dared to help the wild animal. Dean and Samantha instantly knew they needed to do something. Their rescue mission is documented in this gripping video.
"There was a fist-sized hole in the airbag," Dean explains to those who are doubting that the bear could have lasted three months with a bucket on its head. "It was stuffed full of corn and soaking wet inside, the bear had managed to stay alive by forcing food through the hole and dipping it into a nearby stream to drink."
What a tense situation it must have been for everyone involved! Thankfully, the bear's will to live was strong, and the people's determination to help was even stronger.
