'Kakanin Diva' joins The Voice Kids Philippines

A recent blind audition from The Voice Kids Philippines went viral as a 13-year-old kalamay (an iteration of rice cake) vendor amazed all three judges with her rendition of the Aegis hit ‘Sayang na Sayang’.

13-year-old Antonette Tismo is the latest three-chair-turner from the show, who shared that prior to auditioning, she became a Youtube sensation known as the ‘Kakanin Diva’.

In the video, she was asked to sing in exchange for a customer’s offer to buy her rice cakes. It has been over two years since her video made rounds in the Internet, where she also sang the same song she used in her audition. Although there are many versions of her video, some of them have currently over 100,000 views.

Both of the female judges, singers/actresses Leah Salonga and Sharon Cuneta, praised that her singing voice did not sound forced.

The only male judge, rocker Bamboo Mañalac, admired the clarity of her voice.

In the end, she chose Sharon Cuneta to be her coach.  She explained that she chose Cuneta simply because she was the one she liked from the rest.
