Carol Banawa’s 1997 ballad song “Bakit Di Totohanin” was played in one of the scenes of hit US TV show, “The Vampire Diaries.”
On her Twitter account posted March 29, Carol asked her followers to watch the said TV show’s episode 16 and said that they might hear one of her songs. She posted that she was anxiously waiting until the airing of the said episode on April 1.
Then, Carol’s Twitter and Instagram accounts were flooded with congratulatory messages and posts, all happy to hear a Filipino song played on US television. The song was used in the background of a bar scene between Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Valerie (Elizabeth Blackmoore), in an episode entitled “Days of Future Past.” The supernatural drama series is now on its 7th season and has already gained a huge following.
“I am in disbelief right now but very grateful! Will be watching it tonight! Again thank you to [The Vampire Diaries] Music Supervisor, Chris Mollere, [Ian Somerhalder] who directed this episode and the rest of the cast!” she wrote on Instagram. Carol also expressed her gratitude to all those who support original Filipino music.
When asked on Twitter by one of her followers about plans for a new album, she replied: “Thinking of putting up one…stay tuned :)”
