High school is the psychosocial battlefield, where people are pressured to develop their identity and find themselves in time for college. With that said, let's look at twelve archetypes that sum up the social groups of high school fairly well. Which group describes you the most? Scroll down to find out!
1. Intellectual: The Genius
You love school, learning, and being at the top of the class. Your thirst for knowledge is strong - and sometimes this makes you an easy target for the bullies, but you'll have the last laugh. You love gold stars, perfect scores, extra credit and being right, and despite all these lofty achievements you're the model of fairness, logic and humility.
2. Creative: The Artist
So maybe you're not exactly a math whiz, but what you lack in the sciences, you make up for in the arts. You make sure to approach life in an unconventional, eccentric way, and you excel at drawing, writing, painting, music - anything that tickles the emotional, colorful right side of your brain. You're open-minded and experimental, and you seem to naturally gravitate towards like-minded friends who you really jive with.
3. Athlete: The Over-Achiever
You're competitive with a capital C - usually the Athlete's a jock, but this archetype manifests itself across a variety of channels - whatever you're invested in, you're passionate about being the best. You work to compete, excel and win, and this means you have incredible willpower, perseverance and camaraderie. People don't want to cross you...and they certainly don't beat you.
4. Rebel: The Outside the Box Thinker
If you aren't smoking in the boys' room, you're busy stepping out of line, questioning authority and fighting against the system. This is a classic school archetype, donning a leather jacket and skipping class. You love breaking the rules and ruffling feathers. But if people take some time to get to know you, they'll discover you're a critical thinker, you don't take anything for granted, and you're one of the most loyal friends a person can have.
5. Caregiver: The Mentor
You're the sweetest kid in class; you help tutor your fellow classmates, and even volunteer to help guide the younger ones. You're kind, accommodating and inclusive - a noteworthy student but a noteworthier friend. You are honorable and well-liked, often putting people's feelings and needs before your own and a stickler for doing what's right. The downside is you may be a bit sensitive when you deal with bullies, but you persevere nevertheless.
6. Visionary: The Loner
You had your first invention up and running long before you even got your diploma. Your big ideas and even bigger dreams may make you a bit of a loner, but you have a few close friends and a faculty member that will write you the sparkling recommendation you need to give this ol' hick town the boot. You are the future, dismissing the typical high school accolades, which make you way cool and a shoo-in for success.
7. Royal: Queen / King Bee
Who runs this school? You do, honey. Homecoming King, Prom Queen, Student Body President, Valedictorian and much, much more. These are all small but firm steps towards running the country, owning your own business or Congress. You ruthlessly pursue your goals, but if you lead by example, your generosity can only be strengthened by your heady charisma.
8. Performer: The Class Clown
The spotlight is your home - even if it's one in the front of the classroom with only 20 or so classmates as your audience. You're a bit of a troublemaker, distracting people with your antics, but let's face it - being the star of your own show more than makes up for failing that pop quiz. You have a high emotional quotient and are incredibly empathetic, channeling your strongest qualities into something the people around you can visualize. Also, you can make people laugh.
9. Spiritual: The Faithful
You are often deep in meditation or finding a quiet place to think. You often feel like a speck of dust in an infinite universe. But most notably, you stand firm in your faith. You're reliable, strong, and capable of almost anything - if you put your mind and soul to it. You don't worry about the small stuff, like student council elections, but you are a solid rock for most of your friends.
10. Tastemaker: The It Kid
You are the best dressed, coolest kid in the school. You don't only look the hippest, you always have the wittiest retorts, the best slang and the most cutting edge interests. If the rest of the school is doing it, you were probably the one that started the hype in the first place and you're already onto the next one.
11. Explorer: The World Traveler
You could be the foreign exchange student or the kid who goes on holiday with his parents to France. You've seen the world and realized there's so much more beyond the walls of your high school. Your room is full of strange souvenirs, your clothes are the latest trend in Russia, you devour books from outsiders and skeptics. Your life is a quest for new things and experience.
12. Advocate: The Activist
You are the relentless, tireless Advocate - you're running the bake sales, candy bar sales, and endless fundraisers for band, student council, yearbook, choir, special education and more. You are completely devoted to your community and have a passionate drive to help where you can. This can sometimes come back to bite you in terms of high school popularity, but you don't let it get to you - you've done nothing wrong, and you know it.
