In the recent presscon of Direk Joel Lamangan's movie "Island of Desire," he was asked by one of the reporters what he can say about new and younger directors.

The veteran director, who has been in the movie industry for 30 years now, said that he can say a lot of things and he would not mention names.
He highlighted how some younger and newer directors are so arrogant.
“Marami. Hindi na ako magbabanggit ng mga pangalan. Mga bago pa lang mayayabang na. Marami. Mga bago pa lang parang sila ay God’s gift to Philippine cinema.

“Maraming ganyan. Dahan-dahan naman matututo yan kapag yan ay nadapa at dahan-dahang matututo na hindi dapat ganu’n ang tingin nila sa buhay na ito.
“Marami sa mga kabataan ngayon ang nagdi-direct na may konting yabang na konti pa lang ang nagagawa nila at na-praise-praise ay may konting yabang na."
Joel Lamangan is an award-winning Filipino director and actor. One of his notable films was "Flor Contemplacion."
In Lamangan's latest movie, Sean de Guzman is one of the stars. De Guzman previously worked with his onscreen partner, AJ Raval. He revealed that he is happy for the actress and Aljur, whatever their status may be. The actor is the partner of AJ in the movie Nerisa, where Aljur was also among the cast; however, his partner there was Cindy Miranda. He revealed this during the digital media conference for Mahjong Nights.
Direk also aired his personal thoughts on the death of Eddie Garcia. He said that cables must not be strewn on the ground. For him, he would not have had Garcia run with a gun given his age.
