Angel Locsin admitted in a recent interview that she used to audition a lot for modeling gigs and commercials so she could earn herself some money.

She said that she would use a portion of her earnings to help with the expenses at home.

“Naghahanap ako ng way para maka-contribute sa bahay. So, isa akong batang raketera,” Angel laughingly recalled.

The actress said that she would go whenever there’s a fashion show or audition for a commercial, though she did not think about joining showbiz at the time.

“Okay, may fashion show, ‘Game!’ May audition dito, ‘Game!’ Pero hindi sumasagi sa isip ko na pwede akong mag-artista,” she recalled.

She then said that that she did not expect that one audition opened the door for her to enter showbiz.

Angel said she was just accompanying a friend and somebody told her to also audition for the slot.

“Tapos, habang nag-aantay, pina-audition na rin ako. Naka-cap lang ako, naka-backpack, nakapang-wrestling na T-shirt pa ‘ko, kasi uso yun dati,” Angel recalled.

In the end, she was accepted for the role and it became the start of her showbiz career, a fact that Angel was also happy about because she would now be able to save more for her father’s operation.

She gave herself only two years to be in showbiz.

“Dapat two years lang ako sa showbiz. Yun lang kasi ang deadline ko. Mag-iipon lang ako, papaopera ko tatay ko,” Angel said.

The actress also revealed that she would save most of her earnings for her father’s eye operation.

Unfortunately, when she has already saved enough, the doctor told her it has become impossible for them to operate on her father’s eyes.

The actress felt at a loss during that time but then she decided to just continue with her showbiz career and to help her family, especially her father, with whatever that would make them comfortable.
