Vice Ganda and his co-hosts just had an amusing discussion about the Filipina superheroine Darna on the noontime variety show, 'It's Showtime'.
One of the contestants of the mini pageant, 'Reina ng Tahanan', is getting married which prompted the hosts to suggest different themes for the wedding. One suggestion made by Kim Chiu was a Darna-themed wedding.
The Darna idea garenered a funny reaction from Vice Ganda who said, "parang every year, papalitan ka tapos ang tagal matuloy."
Vice Ganda also jokingly added, "Bakit naging ganun yung Darna, ang tagal matuloy? Bad trip, sinabi sayo ng asawa mo, 'Ang theme natin, Darna.' 'Talaga? Kailan?' 'Ah, hindi pa sure. Darna 'yan, eh.’"
It is worth noting that the role of the iconic superheroine was supposed to be played once again by Angel Locsin but the actress was not able to do so due to an injury. Liza Soberano, who was the next actress tapped to don the red costume, also got injured and had to bow out of the project. Finally, Jane De Leon was cast to play the titular role just before the pandemic hit the country. Naturally, filming for the project was postponed. Jane went on to star in the teleserye 'FPJ's Ang Probinsyano'. It was recently announced that she will be exiting the show to start filming Darna.
