Filipino celebrities apologized to British tourist who said that she had “the worst holiday” in the Philippines.
British national Elayne Peddy visited the El Nido in Palawan recently and expressed her disappointment as the vacation did not end up the way she hoped for.
Youtube sensation Mikey Bustos left a comment on her video saying that he is disgusted on the practice of fat-shaming and dark-skin-shaming. The celebrity also offered the Peddy a tour around Manila if she decides to return.
Socialite Daphne Oseña-Paez and blogger Chuvaness also expressed their apologies in behalf of the Filipinos, while musical actor and singer Mark Bautista started hashtag #PhilippinesSorryforElayne to send love to Peddy.
In her vlog, Peddy said, "The country in itself is beautiful. The scenery is beautiful. You know, blue waters...you can look down and see fishes. It's like paradise, in a way. It's a beautiful country."
However, she added that it was the worst four days of her life. "Whenever I stepped out, I had people pointing, I had people laughing, I had people giving me the most hideous comments ever. I was called...a fat ugly monkey."
Moreover, some Filipinos called her "Fat, fat, fat!" while buying from a store, also she was also made pay twice because of her size.
El Nido is popular worldwide as a piece of paradise here on earth. It is the home to one of the seven wonders of the modern world.
Meanwhile, Peddy is thankful for the love she has been receiving for the past days.
