Senator Imee Marcos is currently mourning over the death of former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.

She likewise sent her condolences to the bereaved family of the late politician.

“My heartfelt condolences to the family of former President Benigno C. Aquino III, a "classmate" in Congress from 1998 to 2007,” the senator posted on Twitter.

“I will always treasure the memories of our long years together as freshmen legislators and members of a tiny opposition.”

She likewise added, “For beyond politics and much public acrimony, I knew Noynoy as a kind and simple soul. He will be deeply missed.”

Former Pres. Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III was the 15th President of the Philippines. He ran for office after the death of his mother former Pres. Cory Aquino. His "Daang Matuwid" was the slogan of his term. He is also the brother of prominent television personality, Kris Aquino.

He was rushed to the hospital on Thursday morning, June 24 but later on died. The reason was not yet disclosed to the public. According to initial reports, the former president was brought to a hospital in Quezon City, particularly the Capitol Medical Center. He passed away at 61 years old after efforts to revive him failed.

It was also reported that Kris Aquino has arrived at Capitol Medical Center where the former president was hospitalized and died. Kris was spotted in a video rushing into the said hospital but did not give a statement. His close allies, former Senator Mar Roxas and former Foreign Affairs Secretary Jose Almendras, were reportedly seen in the hospital as well.
