Rufa Mae Quinto recently sat down with Pia Archangel, in an interview for an episode of ‘Tunay na Buhay,’ and revealed the hardships she went through in the United States.

The actress-comedienne said that adjusting to life in America is very hard for her.

Rufa Mae went to the US early last year with her daughter, Alexandria, to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her husband.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic struck and what’s supposed to be a two-week vacation in February of 2020 extended well into 2021.

Rufa Mae said she misses the showbiz industry in the Philippines. “Oo, miss na miss ko talaga, grabe,” the actress-comedienne said.

She also revealed that she had a hard time adjusting to life in America. Rufa Mae also lamented that in spite of her talent and skill as an actress, she was reduced to washing dishes.

“Tuwing naghuhugas ako ng plato, sasabihin ko, ‘After everything I’ve done, sumikat ako sa Philippines, nakapagpundar… Ito lang ba ang bagsak ko? Maghugas ng plato?’” the actress-comedienne said.

Rufa Mae then disclosed that she really had great difficulties at first and would even break down and cry.

“Hirap na hirap ako nu’ng una. Umiiyak-iyak pa ako… End of the world na para sa akin nu’ng una ako dito,” she said.

However, the actress also said that she has learned to adjust and is already happy with where she is now.

“Ngayon naman na-adjust ko na… Sabi ko, okey na rin to. Nakikita ng anak ko yong tunay na buhay, di ba?” Rufa said.

Rufa Mae Quinto-Magallanes is a Pinay actress and comedian. She also had TV hosting and recording stints. She was born on May 28, 1978. Rufa’s showbiz career started after securing a spot in That’s Entertainment in 1996. In 1997, she portrayed a major role in Gloria, Gloria Labandera, and was widely known as ‘Booba’ and ‘Boobita Rose.’ She also was the inspiration for the international catchphrase as having a “nose bleed” for those who have trouble with the English language. While Rufa is a GMA Network talent, her manager, Boy Abunda, belongs to the rival TV station, ABS-CBN. The comedian married Trevor Magallanes, a financial analyst, on November 25, 2016.

The actress explained that it was due to the wildfires that have been going on in California. She said that most people in San Francisco experienced the dark orange sky for the first time.

She penned a lengthy post on Instagram to share her sentiments as the world faces uncertainties due to the pandemic. The comedienne also admits her fears for her husband who is a COVID-19 frontliner.
