MJ Lastimosa is clearly one protective manang of Rabiya Mateo. When the latter was criticized online after the national costume segment in Miss Universe, MJ took the cudgels for her.
"Yung iniintindi mo na nga yung bash ng neighboring countries iintindihin mo pa pambabash ng kapwa mo. Shutacayo," said MJ.
In another post, she said: "Beat her, hate her, but you can never break a determined woman with a pure heart."
Rabiya was not able to wear the head dress during the national costume segment as it kept on falling off.
Miss Universe 2020 will be the 69th edition of the Miss Universe competition. The global pandemic forced the Ms. Universe organization to cancel the events last year and move it to May 16, 2021 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, United States. Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa will crown her successor at the end of the event. Contestants from 74 countries and territories are expected to compete.
A video of MJ Lastimosa exclaiming "Ay Catriona" as Miss Thailand was doing the evening gown preliminary segment has gone viral. Miss Thailand was walking and when she turned, it was then that the beauty queen exclaimed "Ay Catriona." She also tried to say "Hi" to Miss Thailand but since she was not given any attention she just laughed it off. The video has been shared and viewed on Twitter thousands of times.
A fake account on Twitter is now claiming as the official account of Rabiya Mateo. However, the beauty queen stated that she has no Twitter account. Rabiya declared this to MJ Lastimosa, who is one of her biggest supporters, who went with the whole Miss U crew. She categorically said, "wala akong Twitter."
