Nakatanggap ng pangbabatikos ang isang Filipino-Norweigian chef at restaurateur na si Jonathan Romano matapos nitong ilarawan ang pagkaing Pinoy bilang "very bad".

Sa isang episode ng cooking contest show na MasterChef Norway noong April 26, kung saan judge si Romano, tinanong ito tungkol sa Filipino food tradition at dito nga nito sinabi ang kontrobersiyal na pahayag.

Isang statement naman ang inilabas ng Philippine Embassy sa Norway kaugnay ng isyu.

Matapos mag-viral ay nag-isyu na ng public apology si Romano at sinabing mahal niya ang Pilipinas. Sinabi din nitong sa bansa siya ipinanganak nguniti inaming hindi raw marunong magluto ang kanyang ina.

"To all of the Pinoy community that I have insulted! I apologize for the words that came out on my TV appearance lately.

"Everything came out of context and I am so sorry. I am a educated chef with long experience and was just giving my subjective opinion. Of course I like Filipino food and would not badmouth without backing it up. It was a general point that was leftout and that was more about refined, finesse and taste repertoire.

"With That said some of the comments I have received is beyond the general point as disrespecting the country and culture. But I can’t control your comments and you are free to speak out in this free country.

"I am sincerely and must clarify sins this case is going viral and way out of proportion. I am born in The Philippines in Manila and pay my visit there over 30 times and of course I love my country. However I will admit that my mother can’t cook!

"For all of you who knows me and support me as well, please forgive my statement. And for the rest of you badmouthing me, I am so sorry! I am going to enjoy adobo and halo halo today and reflect this incident. Bayang magiliw," anito sa isang Facebook post.
