More than a week ago, Geneva shared that her mom tested positive for COVID and had to be hospitalized.

After several days, the singer posted that her mom Marilyn is getting better, but a day after that, her condition became serious again.

At the time, Geneva asked for prayers for her mom and also staged an online concert to raise funds for her mom.

Unfortunately, the condition of Marilyn got worse until she finally succumbed to the illness.

Geneva then shared that her doctor friend told her persons infected with coronavirus often get worse after a week even if they feel better after several days.

The singer also lamented the fact that they were unable to hold a proper memorial service, nor grieve together as a family, because of the fear of COVID.

“We do not wish this kind of pain upon anyone. We look out for one another. Our mom taught us more patience, less intolerance, respect not dishonor, humility over arrogance; selflessness not selfishness; & honesty instead of deceit,” the singer wrote.
