5 dead after house catches fire in QC's exclusive Corinthian Gardens village

- Five people died from a fire at a home in the exclusive Corinthian Village in Quezon City

- The incident happened early morning of Saturday and reports revealed that the five household members were not able to get out because there were grills

- Other family members were able to escape the inferno, as well as the househelpers and the driver

- The house belongs to a Yu family and the victims were aged 57, 62, 65 and two in their 20's

CNN reported that the fire at the said village was put out at around 5:25 a.m. The estimated damage was around P60 million. The fire was reported at around 1:00 a.m., and 32 fire trucks reportedly responded to the incident.

The house was located in Brgy. Ugong Norte, Quezon City.

Fire Chief Inspector Joseph Del Mundo, in Rappler's report, stated that his team was not also able to immediately enter the house since there were grills and the windows were thick.

According to Philstar, the victims were members of the family Yu. They were Gilbert Yu, 65; Charito (wife of Gilbert), 62; Abigail (daughter); Rita (the sister-in-law of Gilbert), and her son. The fire broke out on the second floor and the victims were trapped.

The recent fire at the Corinthian Gardens is not the first of its kinds. In 2017, a fire also broke out in the said subdivision. The authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. Some of the family members of the Yu family are in the hospital.
