- DJ Chacha slammed Rappler for including her name among those allegedly paid to spread fake news
- The report claimed that the Radyo Singko anchor was under the payroll of Twinmark
- VCM, the artist management firm where the radio celebrity belonged, confirmed receiving monthly payments of P30,000 from Twinmark
- The DJ denied the Rappler report and asked the online news site to produce evidence of its claims
DJ Chacha denied the Rappler report that she was among the celebrities and influencers paid to spread propaganda or fake news. The Radyo Singko anchor dared the online news site to show proof, or at least produce a receipt, that she was among those who waged alleged misinformation campaign.
On Saturday, Rappler alleged that Czarina Balba, more popularly known as DJ Chacha, is under the payroll of Twinmark, a digital marketing firm that the online news site referred to as “fake network.”
Rappler also claimed that DJ Chacha was receiving P30,000 per month from Twinmark since 2017. According to the report, Twinmark handed over its payments to the Vidanes Celebrity Marketing (VCM), the artist management agency where the radio celebrity belonged. The founder of VCM, Elizabeth Vidanes, confirmed receiving payment from the digital marketing firm.
Vidanes, however, said it was never their intention to get involved in the publication of any “questionable government propaganda.” She also revealed they ended the deal when the posts that asked to be shared were no longer in line with the image of DJ Chacha.
Upon learning about the Rappler article, DJ Chacha strongly denied posting anything against the opposition or supported the current administration.
“Hanap kayo resibo na may shinare ako na post or tweet ng paninira sa oposisyon o pagsuporta sa administrasyon. HANAP. Isa isahin niyo,” the radio anchor said.
She also lamented the fact that Rappler published a news item with her name on it yet did not present any evidence that she posted or published any propaganda article.
“Bakit kase hindi sinama ni rappler yung resibo saken? Yung ibang stars andun yung propaganda posts daw? Yung saken nasaan?,” the DJ said in a Twitter post.
