Jao Mapa believes he made the right decision to leave showbiz

Jao Mapa opened up about the reason why he chose to leave the entertainment industry and shared why he does not regret his decision.

In an interview with Vaness Del Moral on “Just In”, Jao talked about why he turned his back on his vibrant showbiz career.
According to the former actor, he left the entertainment industry to be able to finish college.
"There was a time na I stopped in showbiz because I had to choose between finishing my college degree or continue acting.
"I was in the brink ha. To cut the long story short, I said I'll finish college." Jao said.

He revealed that many were shocked upon learning about his decision. There were even some people who tried to convince him back.
Asked if he ever regretted his decision, Jao opened up that the thought would cross his mind from time to time.
"From that time, 2000 up to the present time, I would always have questions of hindi ka ba nagsisisi? 'Di ka ba nagsisisi na sana itinuloy mo na lang, siguro hindi ka magkakaproblema, ganyan.” he revealed.
"These are running through my mind na oo nga 'no? Parang mali ata ginawa ko. Parang dapat diniretso ko na lang.” Jao added.

However, in the end, Jao proved to himself that he made the right choice. First of all, he was able to meet his wife and have their family now.
"Let's just say I just took a break, and after leaving showbiz I got a family; I've found my wife, my beautiful wife. We [have] three kids.”
Then, when the pandemic happened, Jao has been finally convinced that his judgment was correct.
"When the lockdown came in I realized that showbiz could not help me in the lockdown. I [wouldn't] have a job, I [wouldn't] have projects. What saved my life is painting. Pagiging artist, ang pagiging pintor.”

Jao Mapa is a Filipino actor who rose to popularity in the ‘90s. Now, he is among the accomplished painters in the Philippines.
Three years ago, Jao already shared that he had no regrets about leaving showbiz for school. He would not also miss acting since he would act once in a while too.
Jao is not the only Pinoy celebrity who chose to leave the limelight to pursue another career. Another is Kim Delos Santos who is now a nurse in the United States. Currently, she is also studying to be a psychiatric mental health nurse.
