Senator Jinggoy Estrada tucks another motion to leave under his belt as he requests for a four-hour furlough to attend his mother’s birthday celebration on June 4th.
With no hopes of ending his detention at the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame, Quezon City in the horizon, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada has his lawyers hard at work filing for motions to leave for the final sessions in Senate, and just recently, a re-written request for a 4-hour furlough to attend the celebration of his mother’s 86th birthday.
Estrada stated in the new motion that his mother, former First Lady and Senator Dr. Loi Ejercito-Estrada, asks for the whole family together as they have been through the years, even if some are convicted or detained for allegations.

The senator also mentioned how this celebration is “special” to his family, especially his mother, prompting the request for a temporarily leave from his detention cell starting 8PM until 12:00 midnight. Despite the rejection for the same motion in the past year, the accused senator deemed the situation as humanitarian which merits consideration from the court, disregarding any inequity to those accused of the same raps.
The senator’s lawyers have already consolidated the multiple revised motions for his attendance to the final sessions in the Senate, saying that he needs to oversee the removal of his business and personal effects in his Senate office during the final week of the Senate sessions as he ends his term as senator on May 30. The consolidated motion also includes the request to attend his mother’s birthday celebration.
If authorized, the motion will allow the senator to leave prison for three days- June 6, 7, and 8 and attend his mother’s upcoming birthday on June 4.
