Pres. Rodrigo Duterte addressed the rumor that his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will run for the presidential position in 2022; and said a woman is not suitable to be a president.

During his speech for the Skyway Stage 3 inauguration on January 14, Thursday, the president mentioned that he discouraged Inday Sara from running for his current position.

“My daughter, inuudyok naman nila. Sabi ko my daughter is not running. I have told Inday not to run kasi naawa ako sa dadaanan niya na dinaanan ko,"

The president also said that he does not think that the presidency is for women, based on emotional coping mechanisms.

"Hindi ito pambabae. Alam mo, the emotional set-up of a woman and a man is totally different. Maging gago ka dito. "

Currently, Inday Sara is the mayor of Davao City. Then, in a recent survey, she leads the presidential candidates for the upcoming 2022 elections. Sen. Grace Poe and Bongbong Marcos got second place; Mayor Isko Moreno is third; Sen. Manny Pacquiao is in fourth place; and Vice President Leni Robredo landed in the fifth spot.

Moreover, the president made it clear that he will not be seeking to extend his term. He said that even if it would be given to him on a silver platter or he would be given a free ten-year extension, he would not accept it.

Recently, the Palace denied the allegation that the reason why they are pursuing Charter change is for the term extension of government officials.
