Sinas declares Tarlac cop Jonel Nuezca dismissed from police service

- PNP Chief Gen. Debold Sinas has declared that Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca has been dismissed from police service

- The declaration of Sinas came Jan. 11, Monday, in a press conference

- Nuezca's dismissal came after the police officer was caught on video shooting a mother and son, Sonya and Frank Gregorio, during an altercation within the property of the Gregorios

- According to Sinas, the dismissal has already been implemented by Police Brigadier Gen. Vic Danao

The Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Debold Sinas has announced Monday, Jan. 11, that Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, the viral Tarlac cop, has been dismissed from service.

The dismissal was already implemented by Police Brigadier Gen. Vic Danao, a GMA News report stated.

Jonel Nuezca became viral after his fatal shooting of the mother and son, Sonya Gregorio and Frank Gregorio, was caught on video.

The altercation arose over a "boga" device. Relatives of Gregorio also noted that there have been previous issues between them over the right of way.

In relation to the incident, the hashtag "My father is a policeman" also went viral.

ABS-CBN News TV Patrol also reported that Nuezca has already pleaded not guilty to the charges that were filed against him.

Issues have hounded the Philippine National Police (PNP). Before the Gregorio issue, many stories concerning "police brutality" have made rounds online. A case in point was that of Corporal Winston Ragos.

The Philippine Army Chief already ordered the launch of an investigation on the death of Corporal Winston Ragos who, with his arms up in the air, and upon bringing it down was shot by policemen at a checkpoint. His sling bag did not contain any gun or any weapon, as per the statement of his relative. The PA, on the other hand, as per its statement, also mentioned that the wounds of a soldier are not merely physical but also mental.
