National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has stated that the vaccines that were used on the Presidential Security Group were smuggled.
The Sinopharm vaccines that the PSG used had entered the country illegally as they did not have the authorization from the DFA.
Philstar reported that although Lorenzana knew that the vaccines were smuggled, he said that he did not know anything else, with regards to who authorized the vaccination of the PSG or where it came from.
He also said that he did not know who gave the vaccines to the government officials. Inquirer reported that Lorenzana said that the PSG must explain their use of unauthorized vaccines.
PSG Chief Brigadier General Durante had defended the PSG members' vaccination as something necessary to ensure the President's safety, Rappler reported.
