During his acceptance speech, the Kapamilya actor first thanked the production behind the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
Paulo also said that he knows how hard it has been lately for many people, and he is praying that everything will be alright soon.
“Salamat sa lahat ng bumubuo ng MMFF at MMDA.
“Salamat, alam ko mahirap ang buhay ngayon para sa karamihan sa atin pero pinapanalangin ko na lang na sana umayos ang lahat.”
He also encouraged the public to keep fighting and holding on. According to him, he is looking forward to that day, which could be tomorrow, when life will be easier again.
“Kumapit lang tayo. Lumaban lang tayo.
“Sigurado akong darating ang panahon sa hindi malayong kinabukasan na giginhawa ulit ang mga pamumuhay natin.”
At the end of his message, Paulo honored his son, Ethan Akio “Aki” Reyes.
“This is for you Aki!”
Aki is the ten-year-old son of the actor with former girlfriend, LJ Reyes. The two may have been separated for a long time, and they may have their respective partners already, but they remain on good terms for their child. Paulo and LJ are in a co-parenting status.
The “Starstruck” alumnus won the Best Actor award for his role in the MMFF 2020 entry “Fan Girl”. It is only among the eight awards that the film has bagged overall. His leading lady in the movie, Charlie Dizon, also won the Best Actress award. Antoinette Jadaone also won the Best Director and Best Screenplay awards.
Paulo Avelino is a Kapamilya actor and commercial model. Before “Fan Girl”, he won the hearts of the public in his 2018 film, “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral”, which is a sequel to the epic movie, “Heneral Luna”.
Before he received the Best Actor award, Paulo was trending for his frontal-scene in “Fan Girl”. According to Lolit Solis, the scene helped a lot in attracting more attention to the film. Charlie Dizon’s exemplary performance also contributed to the movie’s success, and she was commended by Iza Calzado, one of her rivals for the Best Actress award.
