Iza Calzado showed the public that she is gracious in defeat after Charlie Dizon defeated her in the Best Actress category of the MMFF awards.
KAMI learned that Iza said that although they were nominated in the same category, she was actually rooting for Charlie to win.
Iza was nominated for her role in “Tagpuan” while Charlie was nominated and won for her role in “Fan Girl.”
The veteran actress also thanked Charlie for mentioning her in the latter’s acceptance speech. In the comments section of her post, netizens commended Iza for being supportive towards the young actress.
“Tonight, I feel blessed to witness a star shine brighter. I know we were nominated in the same category but I was really rooting for you.
“I am beyond happy to see you win and thrilled that you mentioned me in your speech. It gives me a sense of purpose beyond self and that is a great gift.
“How amazing that God used me as an instrument to help you in your journey in becoming the Fan Girl. You were destined for this @charliedizon_ mahal kita,” Iza posted on Instagram.
Iza Calzado is an acclaimed actor in the Philippines, best known for her dramatic skills. Some of her projects include Bliss, Tagpuan, and Culion. On December 19, 2018, she got married to businessman Ben Wintle in a resort in Palawan.
She made headlines months ago when she got hospitalized due to COVID-19. Iza Calzado apologized to the people who got offended by her past social media comment about God using the virus to heal the world.
The actress also earned praises when she reunited with the nurses who took care of her when she had COVID-19. According to Iza, she is forever grateful to those nurses because of how they took care of her when she was ill.
