Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio of Davao City shared a photo showing her father, the president, enjoying a meal with her mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman.

Zimmerman is the former wife of Duterte for more than 25 years, but they were annulled in 2000. Despite this, the two are known to be on good terms and have normally spent special occasions together. They have three children, Sara, Paolo, and Baste, who have also ventured into politics.

Currently, Duterte has a common-law partner, Honeylet Avanceña, with whom he shares a daughter, Veronica.

According to Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, it was already expected that the president will stay in Davao City for Christmas. However, he is not sure if the chief executive will remain there.

“Ang Pasko po, sigurado. Pero hindi ko pa po alam ang Bagong Taon,” he said.

Lately, President Duterte has delivered a Christmas message for the public.

Despite the difficulties this 2020 due to the pandemic, he wishes the Filipinos to have a meaningful Christmas celebration and be hopeful for the future days.

“This year has been a trying time for all of us. Many lives were lost and forever changed due to [the] COVID-19 pandemic and several natural calamities,”
“But through it all, we continue to survive and rise because of our unity, strength, and indomitable spirit of [the] Filipino,”

“May we all have a meaningful celebration and let us be hopeful for the better days ahead,” he continued.

He also encouraged the people to let Christ enter their lives to be able to love and cheer up everyone around them, especially those who are in great need.

“allow Christ into our lives so that we could bring love and cheer not only to our families and friends but also to those who are most in need.”
