The normal usage of a calculator in iOS is in portrait mode. This basically allows the user to see the standard mode on the calculator.

However, a user from The Verge shared that the calculator also has a scientific mode. Yes, turning the iPhone on its side will enable the user to use the scientific version.

The revelation came much of a surprise that Twitter user J.R. Carpenter immediately shared it on social media.

"That glimpse of an alternate universe vibe when you turn your iPhone sideways and all of a sudden it's a scientific calculator"

So many functionalities are instantly unlocked. One could now use exponents, memory and parentheses. Those functions that are normally used in high school would simply be available on the iPhone.

What is noticeable on the scientific version is that there is no ticker tape feature, which should have given users the chance to see those operations that were already done.
