A compound in Quezon City has been placed under special concern lockdown because of an incident that involved a resident who is exhibiting flu-like symptoms.

KAMI learned that the said resident attended a birthday party instead of undergoing quarantine for experiencing various symptoms linked to the novel coronavirus disease.

In a report by GMA News, the said COVID-19 patient infected 10 other individuals who also attended the celebration.

“We had to place this area under lockdown so as to stop further infections,” Mayor Joy Belmonte quipped.

“From an index case, [the patient] has infected more people because of a social gathering,” she added.

The Manila Bulletin also provided several details about the resident who attended the birthday party. It was stated in the report that the person is a female government agency worker.

Meanwhile, ABS-CBN News published a report a few hours ago detailing that more than 80 people in the party got in close contact with the patient.

"Nagkaroon ng parang party. Syempre hindi maiwasan na family nila eh nagpunta and doon nalaman after noon nagkaroon ng sintomas,” the barangay chairman said.

The novel coronavirus has infected more than 450 thousand individuals in the Philippines. Around 420 thousand of these infected people gave already recovered.
