Sen. Grace Poe took to social media a photo of her visit to Fernando Poe Jr.’s tomb on his death anniversary.
On December 14, Monday, the senator paid a visit to Manila North Cemetery to memorialize the 16th year of FPJ's death.
In the photo she posted on Instagram, Sen. Grace can be seen lighting candles in front of her father's grave. According to her caption, she could feel the difference between today’s commemoration with those in the past years.
Before, Da King’s family would have a mass on this day, which was usually attended by his family members, friends, and fans. However, the senator understands that such gathering is not possible this year due to the pandemic. Yet, she knows that the legendary actor is in the heart and memory of everyone.
Her entire post goes:
“Sa aking pagbisita sa puntod ni papa ngayong ika-16 anibersaryo ng kanyang pagpanaw, dama ko ang pagkakaiba ng mga panahon ngayon.
“Subalit, hindi man tayo nakapagmisa kasama ang pamilya, mga kaibigan at tagahanga katulad ng mga nakaraang labing limang taon na tayo’y nagtitipon sa araw na ito, alam kong nasa puso at alaala siya ng bawat isa.”
Sen. Grace Poe is the adoptive daughter of Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces. She currently serves as a senator of the Philippines. In the 2016 election, she ran for the presidency but got defeated by the current President Rodrigo Duterte.
One of the longest-running Kapamilya programs now, the “FPJ: Ang Probinsyano” is a tribute to Da King. It is directed and starred by Coco Martin, and his wife, Susan Roces, is also part of it. However, due to the pandemic, she cannot join the TV series’ taping.
In a previous report of KAMI, many commended when the video of FPJ and Susan's wedding vows was digitally restored. The original and restored versions were shown together.
