The actor and the media discussed his career after winning the Best Actor in a Leading Role award at the 3rd Asian Academy Creative Awards 2020.

According to Arjo, he almost quitted showbiz due to the controversial shutdown of ABS-CBN.

He said that the shutdown affected him badly because he and a lot of people got negatively affected by the issue.

However, he changed his mind about quitting his acting career after winning the prestigious award.

“Siguro given everything that’s happened, it affected me so much that I was just like, ‘You know what, I’m out. I don’t want it anymore.’ I don’t want to do showbiz because of this damage that they’ve done because it was this massive damage not only to me but to a lot of people.
"Ayoko ng pahabain basta I was just so affected that I wanted to quit and then I actually told several people already. It was already maybe one last year in my head. I was thinking, ‘This is just crazy. I can’t accept it. It’s either were complete or I don’t want na,’ parang ganun," Arjo shared.

His actress mother, Sylvia Sanchez, said that she did not try to convince Arjo not to quit acting when he informed her about his plan.

However, Sylvia believes that the recent award given to him is a sign from God that he should not quit acting.

"Two months ago, sinabi mo sa akin, 'Ma, stop na ako sa pag-arte, ayoko na, pagod na ako.' Ang dami mong pangamba sa sarili mo, ang dami mong questions, 'nak, na alam mo 'yun, hindi ko rin masagot. O may nasagot man ako pero wala eh...
"Anak, hindi na ako ang sumagot, ang Diyos na mismo. Binigyan ka niya ng award. Alam mo 'to, itong award na 'to... Isa lang ang gustong sabihin sa 'yo ng Diyos, 'Binigay ko sa 'yo itong talent na 'to, Arjo. Kaya stay.' Okay, anak? Stay ka. Ito ang mundo mo, dito ka nararapat," the actress said.
