Another female K-pop idol contracted the highly contagious respiratory illness, and that is no other than Chungha.
The news was confirmed through Soompi, a Korean entertainment website. It posted the official statement of the singer’s agency.
According to MNH Entertainment, the celebrity’s agency, they received Chungha’s test results on December 7, and they confirmed that she tested positive for coronavirus.
The agency also revealed that it was the 24-year old singer-dancer who volunteered herself to be tested after discovering that she had been in contact with someone who was previously confirmed to have the virus as well.
For now, the singer has canceled all her activities and isolated herself in self-quarantine.
Furthermore, MNH ensured that all the individuals with whom Chungha came in contact with will be tested for coronavirus. They will also ensure the proper disinfection of their headquarters.
Chungha also posted a message for her supporters to keep them from being worried. She told her fans, the "Byulharang", not to be worried about her. She also apologized for being not able to dodge the infection. The celebrity also informed them that she only found out about the result on that day.
“Our Byulharang (Chungha's fans), I’m leaving this post in case you get too worried if I don’t say anything. I’m sorry and sorry again. I tried to be careful, but I guess it wasn’t enough. I was also urgently notified today and just found out,”
She also added that she will return as soon as possible and continue her promotional activities once she is back in good health. She also reminded her fans to take care of themselves and said they should meet soon.
Chungha, who is Kim Chung-ha in real life, started her K-pop career by joining “Produce 101”, a show produced by Mnet. Then, she became one of the members of the group I.O.I, but after it was dissolved, she followed a solo career. Recently, she released a pre-single entitled “Dream of You” from her upcoming album, “Querencia”.
Chungha is not the only K-pop celebrity who has been affected by the global health crisis. In a recent report by KAMI, Alexander Lee revealed that he is suffering from depression during this pandemic.
Even here in the Philippines, many celebrities have been infected with coronavirus. Recently, OPM singer Ray-An Fuentes and his family also tested positive for COVID-19.
