Vilma Santos gave an honest and insightful interview to celebrity photographer Raymund Isaac on YouTube.
KAMI learned that she admitted during the interview that she was unprofessional as an actress during the early parts of her showbiz career.
According to Vilma, there was a time when she refused to go to scheduled tapings for movies and television.
“What I did, I went to Baguio. Tinatawagan nila ako. Hindi nila alam nasa Baguio na ako. I was so unprofessional. Those were the days na talagang magulo ang utak ko.
And siguro doon yung part ng learnings,” Vilma shared.
She explained that her unprofessionalism was caused by all of the stress, pressure and anxiety as a young showbiz personality. However, these experiences helped her learn that facing her problems head-on instead of trying to escape from them is the key to overcoming stress and anxiety.
“Kasi I started in the business young. Parang marami na akong hinahanap. Yung pinansiyal ko ba, okay? May bahay ba ako? May utang ako? Bayad… things like that.
By the time ma-realize mo, lubog ka na, ganoon,” Vilma said.

The actress-politician is married to Senator Ralph Recto and she is also the mother of actor-host Luis Manzano.
In a previous report by KAMI, Luis reacted to her mother’s vote in favor of renewing the franchise of ABS-CBN. In a tweet, he expressed how much he loves his mom and that the actor is so proud of her.
He also went viral for defending his stepfather, Senator Ralph Recto, who got bashed for authoring the 3% OFW PhilHealth contribution memorandum. Luis Manzano pointed out that it was President Rodrigo Duterte who deemed the memorandum as urgent and signed it for implementation.
