Robin Padilla aired his sentiments after the organizing committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) announced the 10 movies that made it to the official line-up.
KAMI learned that among the films that qualified to the top 10 for this year’s competition are Isa Pang Bahaghari, Magikland, The Missing, Mang Kepweng, and Pakboys.
The criteria for judging those films were artistic excellence (40%), commercial appeal (40%), Filipino sensibility (10%), and global appeal (10%).
Through Instagram, Robin uploaded a teaser of a documentary film entitled “Memoirs of a Rebel” to commemorate the birth of Andres Bonifacio.
The actor stated in the caption that he is happy with the films that made it to the final cut for the MMFF 2020. However, he threw a question to the screening committee of the said festival.
As he continued with his lengthy message, the award-winning celebrity said that not all people in the film industry are after the box-office earnings.
He also called the style of MMFF screening committee as “old normal” after it seemingly favored films that have high commercial value.
“We have lost our ways, my dear brothers and sisters in the screening committee. Show business is not all about your shows and your businesses. It is not always about your money, your profit and your awards… New normal na! Pati ang showing ng mga pelikula niyo sa MMFF pero ang style niyo old normal pa rin,” he stressed.
Robin Padilla is a prominent actor in the Philippines. He is a firm supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte. He is married to Mariel Padilla.
He recently revealed that his wife and their 2 children got infected with the “flu virus.” He mentioned that it was him who got sick first.
Meanwhile, the complete list of the official entries for this year’s MMFF was reported here.
