Michele Gumabao posted on social media the reason why she was absent during the guesting of the top 5 Miss Universe Philippines candidates on ASAP Natin 'To.
On November 22, Sunday, 2nd runner up Michele could not join Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo, 1st runner up Bella Ysmael, 3rd runner up Pauline Amelinckx, and 4th runner up Billie Hakenson on the Sunday musical variety show.
The volleyball star's absence created questions and speculations in the minds of the viewers. To clear up any possible conflict or issue, Michele decided to share the real reason.
Through her post on Instagram, Michele clarified that the decision was agreed upon by her handler and the show management itself. It was because the beauty queen was exposed to several relief operations to help typhoon victims. Together with the post was a photo of her carrying relief goods.
"A lot of people have been questioning my motives for coming up here just because I missed a guesting of the MUPH queens on tv! Our goods were scheduled to be brought to Isabela and distributed by volunteers just because may scheduled guesting ako on Sunday.
Due to multiple relief operations Kahit negative ako sa swab, my handler and the show decided for the safety of everyone hindi ako kasama because of the exposure from my relief operations. I decided to go to Isabela with our team to personally distribute the goods instead." wrote Michele.
Michele explained that her reason for voicing out was to clear any issue that may involve the organization she is part of. With many people donating and trusting their organization, she wants to make sure that all the hard-earned money will reach typhoon Ulysses victims. That is why she does not want any controversy to affect their relief initiatives.
She said that she is used to issues thrown at her on social media, and it is fine with her to be bashed. However, this time, she has to make a stand to avoid others being involved.
The beauty queen also challenged those who have questions regarding her attendance to ask those who have invited them on their shows. She even joked that if they want to see her dance on the national TV, they should watch Willie Revillame’s Wowowin every Friday, on which she might even sing.
Michele is part of the "Your 200 Pesos" fundraising drive. Together with her brother Marco, she has been active in distributing relief goods and conducting feeding programs in places heavily affected by Typhoon Ulysses.
Recently, Michele has been making headlines for her voluntary work to help Typhoon Ulysses victims. However, her goodwill does not end there. Netizens also praised her for defending Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo from a basher who called her ugly.
