Enchong Dee recently had a remark about his fellow Kapamilya artists who accept opportunities from other networks.
In a digital press conference by insurance company, Sun Life Financial, the actor said he understands why loyal ABS-CBN stars have to do so.
“Because by the end of the day, a lot of my contemporaries, a lot of artistas are breadwinners.”
“Hindi mo naman puwedeng alisin sa kanila yung pagkakataon na magtrabaho sa isang lugar.”
According to him, the loyalty of those artists cannot be measured by staying in their home network especially during these trying times.
“Kasi sa akin, isa sa mga bagay na na-realize ko, and naintindihan ko rin, hindi ko kasi puwedeng gawing measurement yung loyalty just because of what’s happening now.”
As per Enchong, he is fortunate for having fewer financial worries amid the pandemic and ABS-CBN shutdown because of his investments.
“Siguro sa akin na lang, I’m very fortunate and very blessed that I was able to invest my money as early as pagpasok ko pa lang sa showbiz fifteen years ago.”
“So, as early as 17, 18 years old, ipinasok ko na sa utak ko na kailangan ko yung freedom na ‘yon.”
“Now, with all these things happening, hindi ako masyado worried about saan ko kukunin yung pambayad ng kuryente, ng tubig, ng renta, yung mga ganong bagay, because I invested my money properly.”
“Ngayon, hindi masyadong mahirap sa akin yung desisyon na, ‘Okay, lilipat ba ako o hindi?’ Because again, show business is only a certain part of who I am."
Enchong Dee is a Kapamilya actor who has appeared in projects such as Katorse, Maria de la Barrio, and Muling Buksan ang Puso. He also used to be an athlete, taking part in the Philippine national swimming team that competed in the SEA Games and 2006 Asian Games.
He previously took a swipe at elected congressmen in typhoon-hit areas, Isabela and Cagayan. Those congressmen are among the 70 lawmakers who denied the ABS-CBN network’s bid for a new franchise. Enchong criticized the officials for being “reasons” why the said areas’ sources of reliable information got affected.
He also reacted to the controversy involving Presidential Chief Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo. Panelo accused Vice President Leni Robredo of using a government C-130 plane to deliver relief goods to Catanduanes, an area badly hit by Typhoon Ulysses.
