Former beauty queen Imelda Schweighart drew flak from a lot of netizens after she aired hateful comments on K-pop.
In a series of now-deleted Facebook posts, the resigned Miss Earth Philippines 2016 who turned into a singer held that “Filipinos are losing their identity trying to be like Koreans.”
"I hate K-pop," she first posted.
Imelda continued that because of fondness of trying to be like Koreans, Filipinos are losing their own identity. “Konting pride, please?”
“Di hamak na mas magaling namang mag-English mga Pinoy kesa Korean. Kala ko ba Chinese nananakop? I think we're getting it wrong. Lagi na lang tayong sinasakop,” she added.
Imelda has released songs such as Fuccboi, Power Trip and Bubba Luva, among others.
Imelda Bautista Schweighart is a 22-year-old Filipino-German beauty queen who entered the local music scene just this year. She won Miss Earth Philippines in 2016 but decided to give up the crown following some controversial remarks.
To recall, Imelda has made headlines after her comments about President Rodrigo Duterte "doing Hitler stuff in the Philippines" drew flak from netizens. She has apologized for the slur but admitted that she refuses to feel affected.
She also claimed that Miss Ecuador Earth Katherine Espin, who won Miss Earth 2016, underwent plastic surgery. The Ecuadorian beauty queen, in return, challenged Imelda to prove that she had plastic surgery.
