Rabiya Mateo calls for solutions instead of capitalizing on "resiliency"

- Miss Universe Philippines Rabiya Mateo called for more solutions to the difficulty that Filipinos are going through right now

- She said that resiliency seems to have been overused to the point that people are not looking for solutions to problems anymore

- She said that despite the strength of the Filipinos, there needs to be a plan for those who were affected by the typhoon

- She added that the community will not become better if one will only rely on "resiliency"

Rabiya Mateo, reigning Miss Universe Philippines, during an interview with Jessica Soho talked about how Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses affected the country.

She aired her thoughts and stated that staying resilient alone is not enough to answer the needs of people who fell victim to the typhoons.

"Yung resiliency, parang overused siya to the point na sometimes we don't look at the problems to find the solution," said the beauty queen.

She pointed out that although the Filipinos are inherently strong, there needs to be a concrete plan for them.

"And we just tell other people na all we need to do is have a positive mindset and we're going to overcome this. But where are the tangible programs to help the people being affected by such situation?" said the lovely lady from Iloilo.

While she agrees that resiliency is needed, a tangible and visible solution is a must.

She also recounted how she and her family fell victim to typhoon Yolanda, and how she experienced putting up a sign on the road saying, "We need help. We need food."

With the help of private organizations, they were already able to raise P200,000 for the flood victims.
