Catriona Gray calmly responded to a netizen who questioned her presence in Colombia amid rage of Typhoon Ulysses in her province, Bicol.
KAMI learned that she garnered the said criticism after sharing snaps of her travel on her social media page.
“Cat, why are you in Colombia instead of helping your own province deal with the typhoon? I have always been fan but especially with traveling during a pandemic? What example does taking this job send to everyone?” the netizen commented.
The beauty queen then responded, "this invitation was extended months ago and even though I'm away I've been doing my part in working with @philredcross since the day of the typhoon to provide aid and relief to the affected areas. Thanks for your concern."
The Miss Universe 2018 is in Colombia right now to judge in the upcoming Miss Universe 2020 Colombia pageant. To recall, Catriona made a social media post a few months ago about this invitation.
“Hola, Colombia!! So excited to announce I'll be traveling to Colombia next month for the first time to be an official judge for Miss Universe Colombia 2020 @missuniversecolombiaorg and also to work with @smiletrain as their Global Ambassador. Stay tuned for updates!” she wrote on social media on October 28.
Catriona Gray is the fourth and the latest Pinay who brought home the Miss Universe crown in 2018. She is also a singer and is very active with the foundation that she's working on.
She recently made a courageous post about speaking up and not allowing someone’s voice to be silenced. This is a few days after she and actress Liza Soberano received a warning from a high-ranking military official for their ties with women's rights group Gabriela.
Catriona, through her legal counsel, released a statement saying that the mention of the beauty queen in the message to Liza was "completely uncalled for". The statement also revealed that the beauty queen will not waiver in continuously championing women's rights.
